99% of removals everything will go great, but what about the 1% where there is an issue.......
It is important that you select a Man With A Van or Removal company that has the correct insurance.
There are two parts to the insurance.
I have BOTH Insurance for Hire or Reward and for Goods In Transit (removals and single items). If you book someone that doesn't have both then you take a massive risk. Remember to ask other companies about this. If in doubt ask them to email you a copy of their certificates!!
INSURANCE FOR REWARD OR HIRE
This insurance is for the van - it is a legal requirement to have the right insurance. The van must have insurance for reward or hire (also known as haulage). Normally, its about 4 times more expensive than normal fully comprehensive insurance. I am sure you don't want your goods impounded along with van when its subject to a police or VOSA spot check.
GOODS IN TRANSIT
This is the insurance required to cover the goods you are moving - there are two types available (Courier or Removals). You Must have the removals type to be fully covered. If the Insurance is not in place will the company you've hired pay you hundreds or thousands from their own pocket to replace your items??? Doubtful!
